civex > This is buried in the sidewalk. Much of the underground services are subject to flooding in Key West, so they have an anode to drain off the electrical charge in salt water so that there is less or slower corrosion of the pipes and conduits.

civex > Okay, this is next to a kapok tree and according to the text, life jackets in WW II were known as Mae Wests because they were "light-weight and waterproof." Presumably, just like Mae West. Um-hm.

civex > One of the things I liked about Key West was that it didn't take it self too seriously.

civex > Some typical houses, using height and tall rooms to catch every breeze and not get too hot.

civex > The interesting thing about this house is that the clapboards are left untreated, while the trim is well-maintained. This is a guest house, and by the looks of it an expensive one.
