This video shows me selecting Picasa as the app to view photos on the already-inserted USB drive. I open Picasa, import the two JPGs and the two NEFs, then open a JPG (it's a photo of the laptop) and a NEF (it's a photo of a fake pizza). The dialogue window that pops up asks what I want to use to view the files on the detected drive, and I select Image View, the app that comes pre-installed. Two photos are JPGs, and the two of the pizza are NEFs. Image View shows only the JPG thumbnails.
